About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our Hellers manufacturing site in Kaiapoi. This role supports the food safety and regulatory compliance activities across the site. 

As a member of our QA team, you will play an important role in providing technical support to the Kaiapoi site team in the areas of food safety, regulatory customer compliance and quality management systems.

Key Job Elements & Responsibilities

• Conduct daily product and environmental testing across various departments.
• Provide support with process validation and complete any work as required.
• Review, update and issue finished product specifications, internal and external.
• Conduct QA verifications checks including GMP, pre-op and cleaning checks.
• Review, update and issue production paperwork as required.
• Present accurate results and key findings to the QA team in a clear and timely manner.
• Assist with ensuring all customer complaints and internal incidents are investigated thoroughly and corrective actions identified.
• Conduct the routine sensory testing of products.
• Conduct finished product verification and ensure results are reported accurately and timely.
• Conduct shelf-life and allergen testing.
• Provide support in external audits.
• Be willing to learn other QA related tasks as directed by the QA Manager.

Key Skills & Experience

• Relevant Tertiary qualification i.e. Food Science and or Meat technology (or relevant experience)
• Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel (intermediate to advance level) for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
• Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Technician or similar role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A desire to proactively look for continual improvement.
• The ability to work within a small team, but also autonomously.
