• Hands On QA - Afternoon Shift from 12.00pm
  • Wiri Location
  • Food Science or Technology Degree required

Love food? Love quality? Love the idea of working for one of New Zealand’s most iconic smallgoods producers? At Hellers, we’re proud to be the country’s leading manufacturer of bacon, ham, and smallgoods—and we’re looking for a QA Technician to join our Auckland team in Wiri.

This is a hands-on role where no two days look the same. If you’ve got a sharp eye for detail, enjoy solving problems, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, you’ll fit right in. You’ll work Monday to Friday with afternoon shifts, plus the occasional Saturday during peak season. There can be some flexibility to work dayshifts from time to time but this role primarily covers an afternoon shift.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll play a key role in keeping our products safe, delicious, and up to our high standards. Your day could include:

  • Carrying out environmental swabbing as part of our monitoring programme
  • Reviewing records for our Positive Release programme
  • Keeping accurate, tidy records of all test results
  • Helping train staff and build quality awareness across the site
  • Organising and maintaining product retention samples
  • Collecting water samples for our Trade Waste Monitoring Programme
  • Maintaining internal and external calibration of temperature probes
  • Checking production paperwork and following up on missing data or discrepancies
  • Conducting shelf-life and organoleptic (sensory) evaluations
  • Collating and reporting hygiene results across departments
  • Supporting continuous improvement of systems and documentation
  • Completing daily walkarounds of processing areas, the warehouse, and surrounding environments
  • Participating in internal and external verification activities

If you enjoy variety, this role delivers it in spades.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Computer-savvy, especially with Excel and Word
  • Confident communicating with people across the business
  • Comfortable working independently and managing their own workload
  • Reliable, organised, and committed to doing things right

A degree in food science or food technology with at least two years’ work experience is ideal—however if you’re a recent or upcoming graduate, we’d still love to hear from you. Experience in food processing is a bonus, but not essential. We’ll provide full training for the right person.

Why Hellers?

You’ll be joining a supportive team, working with great people, and contributing to products enjoyed by Kiwis nationwide. It’s a chance to grow your skills, gain real industry experience, and be part of a company that values quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
