About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic QA Technician to join our Quality Team at our Kaiapoi plant. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Food Technology or Food Science graduate who is passionate about food and keen to develop strong technical skills in a supportive, hands-on manufacturing environment.
The purpose of this role is to support the site’s food safety, quality, and compliance systems by carrying out key validation, verification, sampling, and auditing activities.
Key Job Elements & Responsibilities
- Assist with oven, chiller, thaw, allergen, and metal detector validations and complete related tasks as required.
- Update production paperwork as needed.
- Support the Product Development team by reviewing specifications to ensure accuracy and alignment with process capabilities before they go live.
- Conduct QA verification checks on products and processes as directed by the QA Manager.
- Present accurate results and key findings to the QA team clearly and efficiently.
- Liaise with Production Supervisors and communicate outcomes from verification checks.
- Facilitate and deliver training sessions to operations staff on specific QA modules.
- Assist in investigating customer complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Be willing to learn other QA related tasks as directed by the QA Manager.
Key Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, supported ideally by a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role would be ideal.
- Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Technician or similar role.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel (intermediate to advance level) for data analysis and reporting.
- Well, developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make sound decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to generate ideas and identify new opportunities for improvement or innovation.
- Clear and confident communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High level of literacy and numeracy, with strong attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of HACCP principles and foundational knowledge of food safety systems.
- A desire to proactively look for continual improvement.
- The ability to work within a small team, but also autonomously.
